                                                                                                                                                                      The Chief of Police is the administrative head of the Maryville Police Department. He is ultimately responsible for the preservation of life and property, preservation of law and order, investigation of crimes, suppression of vice and enforcement of the state laws and municipal ordinances in the City of Maryville. The department's organizational structure allows authority to be delegated to ranking members of the police department for efficiency. The Administrative, Patrol, Detective, and the Office of Professional Standards, Training, and Planning divisions operate under the command of a captain, who reports directly to the Chief of Police. 

                                                                                                                                                                      AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

                                                                                                                                                                      Records.  The records division is responsible for the data entry, storage maintenance, security and retrieval of all incident reports, accident reports, and arrest records. This unit is an essential part of the Police Department.

                                                                                                                                                                      The State of Tennessee requires that all law enforcement agencies adhere to rules as directed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) for reports.  Tennessee Incident Based Reporting system (TIBRS) requires that all agencies maintain an error rating of less than four percent each month to remain certified.  To meet their requirements, all records personnel must attend training each year held by the TBI).  The TBI performs an audit of the records division every three years.

                                                                                                                                                                      Accident Reports are available the next working day in person at the Municipal Center between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.or by mail (send a return stamped envelope) to Maryville Police Department, ATTN: Records, 418 West Broadway Avenue, Maryville, TN 37801 for $0.15 per page. To obtain the report, you must provide the name of one of the drivers involved, date of accident, and location.

                                                                                                                                                                      Offense/Incident Reports can be obtained at no charge by either appearing in person or by mailing your request with a self addressed envelope to Maryville Police Department, ATTN: Records, 418 West Broadway Avenue, Maryville, TN 37801. You must provide the victim's name, date or offense/incident and location of incident. The Records Division is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm or you may call 865-273-3702.

                                                                                                                                                                      City Court.  The primary functions of the Municipal Court are to keep records of all traffic/city ordinance violations and to collect all fines and costs. Municipal court is held in the Gary H. Hensley Room of the Maryville Municipal Center every other Tuesday at 2:00pm. The court clerk's office is located in the Police Department.  For information regarding reinstating a driver's license, renewing a driver's license, or obtaining driving history call the court clerk 865-273-3701.

                                                                                                                                                                      Citations/Tickets.  To inquire about payments or an appearance in Municipal Court on traffic, parking and other municipal violations, call the court clerk at 865-273-3701. Fines can be paid before your court date in person at the Maryville Municipal Center/Police Department hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or can be mailed to Maryville Police Department, ATTN: Court Clerk, 418 Broadway Avenue, Maryville, TN 37801. Failure to pay fine or appear for a scheduled court appearance may result in the suspension of your driver's license.

                                                                                                                                                                      Homeland Security.  The mission of the Maryville Police Department Homeland Security Office is to detect, deter and prevent any future terrorist attacks by working in partnership with our citizens, the State of Tennessee Homeland Security Office and the law enforcement community. We seek to advance the efficient and timely exchange of information on a local and state wide basis.                                                                                                                                                                       Other Areas of Responsibility.  Grant writing and management
