The Maryville Codes Enforcement Division is a part of the Development Services Department and is responsible for the administration and enforcement of regulations that governs the occupancy use and sound construction of new and existing buildings. Compliance with codes and standards is achieved through pre-submittal review meetings with designers, plan review, issuing permits, conducting inspections and coordinating enforcement efforts with other city departments. Because the Codes Division utilizes professional qualified staff it currently maintains a 3.0 Insurance Service Offices, Inc. rating which helps to lower insurance rates for residents, business, and industry.  The Division is dedicated to quality and applies the standards for utilities and facilities so that all Maryville structures are safe, sanitary, and fit for occupancy, as well as suitable for those with physical impairments.    The Codes Office hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday. The office is closed for lunch between the hours of 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. The inspector office hours are 8:00 am - 9:00 am and 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. The offices are located at the Maryville Municipal Building on the lower level.   

New Energy Code Adoption Announcement

September 7, 2010, the Maryville City Council completed the process for the adoption of the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code. This code was adopted pursuant to the Tennessee Clean Energy Future Act of 2009. The newly adopted code will apply to residential building permits issued on or after October 1, 2010.
