Best Street Update: Expected Mid-day Opening Today, Additional Work Required

11/8/2017

Comments

City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works plans to reopen Best Street to traffic mid-day Wednesday, November 8 (today).

Crews were delayed by the weather but worked early Wednesday to finish paving work. Director of Engineering and Public Works, Brian Boone said, “We wanted to give the road back to traffic as soon as safely possible, and we will be able to open the road today after the paving process is complete. However, there will be a need for some finish work that will be done Thursday or Friday depending on favorable weather.” Boone explained this finish work will require partial lane closures and flagged traffic in the area. Tractor trailers and larger trucks must continue to take an alternate route.

Best Street has been closed from Anderson Avenue to Boyd Avenue since a Wednesday, November 1 after a storm water drain slip and a water main break at the same location. The water main was repaired and 100 feet of 18 inch storm water pipe was replaced. For more information call 273-3304.

Best Street will remain closed to through traffic from Anderson Avenue to Boyd Avenue. Motorists will be detoured around the closure until repairs are complete. Tractor trailers and larger trucks must take an alternate route. For more information call 273-3304.
