Contractors for the city of Maryville will be repaving several streets in the John Sevier area beginning Monday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, weather permitting. The entire project is expected to last two weeks depending on weather. Residents and businesses in the area should not park on the street during the paving period.

For more information call Engineering and Public Works at 273-3500. On Wednesday April 3, 2024, a section of N. Cusick Street will be narrowed to two lanes. Beginning at the Korean War Memorial Bridge and ending at Hannum Street, all traffic will be shifted to the north bound side of N. Cusick Street, with one lane in each direction. The main entrance to the Blount County Public Library off N. Cusick Street will be limited to a right turn only to enter and to exit. This lane shift is expected to be in effect for one day only while the City of Maryville Water and Sewer Department repair a failing sewer pipe.

The City of Maryville Water and Sewer Department will close Court Street from E. Church Avenue to Ellis Avenue today, Thursday, March 21, 2024. The road will be closed from 8 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m. while crews work on a water tap. For more information, contact the Water & Sewer Department at 865-273-3300. The City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works Department will close both lanes of Old Niles Ferry Road between Best Street and West Broadway Avenue on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Public Works crews will be working on a sight distance issue in that area. The work is expected to be finished by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, but it may take additional time to complete. If that is the case the same area will be closed again on Wednesday, March 13, from 8 a.m. until the work is finished.

The City of Maryville Water and Sewer Department will be working in the Carpenters Grade Road, Ludlow Drive area from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2024. During that time, Carpenters Grade Road will be down to one lane while crews work on a water main tie-in. Motorists should expect some delays.

The City of Maryville Stormwater department will close Westfield Drive from Lenore Lane to Sevierville Road beginning at 9 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024. The road will be closed while crews repair a storm drain.

On Thursday, Jan. 18, centers will be open reduced hours from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. *** Tuesday, Jan. 16 - 2:55 p.m. update The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is requesting all customers to voluntarily curtail any non-essential electric loads effective today, January 16, 2024. Due to forecasted extremely low temperatures in the Tennessee Valley Authority service area tonight and the high electric demand expected on their system, TVA is asking for voluntary curtailment across their entire system. Customers are asked to voluntarily reduce their electric consumption by turning off unneeded lights and by not using major appliances (ovens, washing machines, washers/dryers, and unplugging devices or appliances not frequently used, etc.). While city public works crews have been working since 5 p.m. Sunday night, the roads remain covered as heavy snowfall and cold temperatures continue. It is expected that local and minor streets and roads will be unsafe for travel for the remainder of the night and in the morning, and we urge residents to stay off roads until conditions improve. Traffic Accidents Maryville police are responding to emergency traffic only due to numerous accidents. Police advise if you are in a minor accident, take photos with your cell phone, swap insurance and contact information and call the police department in the morning to get a report. City Offices As a safety measure, City of Maryville offices will be closed to the public on Tuesday, January 16.
