The project is part of the City’s multi-year, two-million-dollar capital project, to replace all aging greenway bridges on the city’s four-mile stretch of trails along Pistol Creek. Since the start of the effort 2018, twelve bridges have been replaced with four left to replace. The current project – including a streambank restoration project and two bridges at the McCammon Avenue and McGhee Street entrance -- began in May and according to Kevin Stoltenberg, Assistant City Manager, is special. “The additional architectural features of this bridge are designed to reflect the beauty and cozy feel of the city,” Stoltenberg said. “This is something our community can be proud of for generations.”
While the bridge is open for trail visitors, there are a few construction items and equipment remaining in the area. Once the punch list is completed, the city plans an official ribbon cutting for the new bridge on November 15.
