Contractors working on the Carpenters Grade Road job have closed the intersection of Barrington Blvd. and Carpenters Grade today for grading. This closure will be in effect until approximately 2:30 p.m.
Phase III of the Traffic Control Plan is expected to begin the week of November 10th, due to recent weather delays.
Planned Activity:
New Traffic Pattern Expected November 12, 2025 When Phase III begins, the intersection of Cochran Road and Raulston Road will become an all-way stop to accommodate detoured eastbound traffic from Carpenters Grade Road. This temporary all-way stop will remain in place for approximately 6–8 months, until Phase III is complete. Important Traffic Notes During Phase III: · Northbound Carpenters Grade traffic will be detoured to Cochran Road. · Southbound Carpenters Grade Road will remain open with traffic moving onto the multi-use path between Melrose Station and Barrington. · Residents exiting Cross Creek, Oxford Hills, and Knightsbridge subdivisions will be right turn only onto Carpenters Grade Road. · Residents exiting the Villas at Carpenters Grade, Legacy Court, and Kirkland Estates subdivisions will be left turn only. · The temporary traffic signal on Carpenters Grade Road at Cross Creek Drive will provide improved access for internal subdivision traffic to enter Carpenters Grade Road. Planned activity for September 12 - 25 • Raulston Road at Carpenters Grade remains closed with traffic being detoured to relocated Cochran Road. • Curbing work on Raulston Road is expected to continue Monday, Sept. 15 with asphalt paving to follow before the road is opened. • Removal of old electrical poles will begin soon. • Relocation work for gas, phone lines, and cable is nearing completion. • Raulston Road will be re-opened to traffic when paving is complete. Cochran Road will be closed temporarily following the opening of Raulston. • Police presence continues. Important Note: • When Phase III begins, northbound Carpenters Grade traffic will use Cochran Road. Southbound Carpenters Grade will remain open. • Utility relocation work continues. • Utility poles to be installed on Carpenters Grade Road starting Monday, June 30. • Cochran Road (behind the Marathon gas station near Raulston Road) remains closed. • Curbing begins July 7 weather permitting. • Police presence continues as safety is a concern. Planned activity for June 27 – July 17 Crews continue to work on utility crossings. Utility poles will be installed beginning at the intersection of Carpenters Grade and Peterson Lane and continue east along Carpenters. This work is dependent on the weather and may continue through Wednesday, July 21st. Curbing around the Marathon entrances is expected to begin July 7. Road Closure Scheduled to be in place for 3-4 more weeks Cochran Road remains closed from Raulston Road to approximately 2224 Cochran Road. This closure includes the Marathon gas station parking lot. Drivers cannot use the parking lot as a cut-through. Through traffic should avoid using Cochran Road, however homeowners will have access to their homes. This closure is expected to be in place until approximately July 21, and possibly July 28, depending on the weather. Large equipment and workers are present throughout the day on Carpenters Grade and on Cochran Road. We ask that all drivers please slow down, use extra caution, and be patient when traveling through the work zone. A little extra care goes a long way in keeping everyone safe. All traffic is expected to observe the blockades on Cochran Road including motorcyclists. Police Officers are present and working to reduce speeding and careless driving. • Utility relocation work continues. • Lane closures on Carpenters Grade and Kensington Blvd. will be brief and temporary as utility work continues. Drivers should watch for flaggers when lanes are temporarily closed. • Retaining wall construction will begin soon along Carpenters Grade Road between Kensington Blvd, and Barrington Blvd. • Cochran Road (behind the Marathon gas station near Raulston Road) scheduled to be closed June 23 weather permitting. • Police presence continues as safety is a concern. Planned activity for June 12 – June 26 On Monday, June 16, 2025, lane closures and flagging operations will be in place on Carpenters Grade Road near Kensington Blvd. Additionally, lane closures on Kensington Blvd. at Carpenters Grade Road will be in effect on Tuesday, June 17. Crews will be working on utility crossings during this time. This work is dependent on the weather and may continue Wednesday, June 18th if rain delays progress. Road Closure Scheduled for June 23, 2025 Cochran Road will be closed from Raulston Road to approximately 2224 Cochran Road. This closure will include the Marathon gas station parking lot. The City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works Department reports contractors have requested Carpenters Grade Road be reduced to one lane near Barrington Blvd. from 9 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m. tomorrow, May 29th and on June 2nd. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic. Drivers are asked to use extreme caution while traveling through the work zone as crews work to install a new water line during this lane closure.
