Due to the extreme heat, and to help maintain reliable power supplies, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is requesting all customers voluntarily curtail any non-essential electric loads effective immediately today, June 24, 2025.
This week, our area is expected to experience extremely high temperatures which will lead to higher energy demands. As part of the TVA’s Emergency Load Curtailment Program (ELCP), TVA is implementing Steps 10 and 20. These steps aim to proactively maintain a stable and reliable power grid during peak hours (between 12 noon 7 p.m.), as this week’s temperatures soar.
This request includes reduced lighting during the day, adjusting thermostats when not home or in parts of the residence or business that is not routinely occupied, and unplugging devices or appliances not frequently used.
