Grounds Maintenance Worker

Performs semiskilled work mowing, seeding, planting, pruning, trimming, spraying and fertilizing grass, trees, shrubs, bushes, hedges and flowers, performing a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance activities, operating, maintaining and repairing equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader.

Grounds Maintenance Worker Job Description

Firefighter/EMT - Trainee

Firefighters perform protective service work responding to fires and emergency medical service calls, performing fire suppression, emergency medical response and related duties, maintaining station and equipment, participating in continuing training, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Applicants must be available to participate in the Basic Firefighter Qualifying Exam and physical agility exam scheduled for Saturday,  June 24, 2023.

Building Inspector

​Essential Functions
  • Inspects residential and commercial buildings under construction, alteration or repair for compliance with codes; inspects existing buildings for code violations and structural deficiencies; patrols and inspects for building additions occurring without permits.
  • Issues stop work orders and issues court citations on non-complying projects.
  • Reviews and issues permits; answers technical questions from citizens, professionals and others regarding code enforcement.
  • Reviews building plans and specifications for compliance with codes and other technical requirements; coordinates with other City departments regarding permit approval.
  • Coordinates with other City departments regarding permit approval; provides written and verbal communication with professionals.
  • Maintains inspection records and results; prepares reports.
  • Coordinates with other City departments and inspectors on approval for temporary and regular certificates of occupancy.
  • Answers questions; provides information to architects, engineers and contractors.

Building Inspector Job Description

Principal Planner

This is a supervisory position overseeing the daily functions of the Planning section. The position performs difficult professional and technical work managing the City’s planning program, assembling and analyzing social, economic and other data for City planning activities, preparing short- and long-range planning documents, supervising and assisting the City’s land use planning staff in the processing of land use and zoning applications and requests, preparing documentation for relevant boards and commissions, maintaining case files, and related work as apparent or assigned.
