Work will be performed overnight to reduce traffic interruption
Beginning Saturday night at 10 p.m., city of Maryville contractor Stansell Electric will be replacing the traffic signal system at the intersection of U.S. 321 and West Broadway Avenue. This effort will require the closure of the entire intersection for the duration of the project. Engineers expect the intersection to be reopened by 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, March 28.
No through traffic will be possible while the work is in progress. Motorists are asked to plan their routes accordingly.
The signal replacement at U.S. 321 and West Broadway Avenue is one of the biggest pieces of the Advanced Traffic Management System project that began in June of 2020. The project will connect communications between signals throughout Maryville and Alcoa, allowing for real time adjustments to alleviate traffic issues. The project is expected to be complete by June of 2021 and was fully funded by a federal grant.
