Front St. Will be Closed for Sewer Construction Today, January 26, 2023

The City of Maryville Water and Sewer Department will have Front St. closed from Hannah Ave. to Kittrell Ave. today, Thursday, January 26, from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 5:30 p.m. Crews will be working on sewer construction.

Downtown Maryville is a Main Streets affiliated program recognized by the State of Tennessee and approaches revitalization efforts from a four-point approach (Economic Vitality, Promotions, Organization and Design). Maryville has experienced extreme growth in the past two years, with over $60 million of private investment and public infrastructure investment to revitalize downtown. We seek an innovative, and organized Executive Director to professionalize the organization, create a fundraising strategy and manage and execute diverse events to bring the local community and visitors to the downtown. The City of Maryville is Hiring a Utility Plant Mechanic

Utility Plant Mechanics repair and maintain machinery and equipment in the City of Maryville Water Filtration Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and stations throughout the system. Utility Plant Mechanics work four (4) ten-hour shifts and rotate on-call status.

Essential Functions:

Performs repairs on pump motors and related equipment used for water or wastewater treatment lift stations, wells, storage tanks, etc.
Uses hand, bench and machine tools in the repair and maintenance of pumps, valves and other plant machinery.
Checks and performs maintenance and repairs on pump stations.
Adjusts, replaces and repairs bearings, shafts, sleeves and other parts.
Makes periodic inspections of equipment to ensure that equipment is functioning properly.
Monitors operation of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System; repairs and/or replaces electrical services and related components.
Performs various carpentry tasks in connection with maintenance tasks.
Performs manual cleaning and preventive maintenance duties as assigned; performs routine building and grounds maintenance.
Lubricates and changes oil in equipment and motors.
Designs and fabricates parts for various types of equipment.
Performs various welding tasks in connection with repair activities.
Ability to serve after-hours standby.

Wastewater Plant Technicians / Operators

The Wastewater Plant Technician / Operator performs intermediate technical work in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, taking samples, reading gauges and charts, performing routine tests, assisting to ensure proper plant operation, and maintaining records and files.

Maintains and operates a wastewater treatment plant; records readings from instruments; maintains records on plant operations; monitors levels and flows and makes appropriate adjustments.
Assists with the maintenance and repair of plant equipment.
Collects samples; performs laboratory tests in the absence of the Laboratory Technician.
Handles chemicals and calculates correct dosage.
Performs general custodial and grounds maintenance work.

Crews Making a Final Pass Through All Neighborhoods to Pick Up Loose Leaves

The City of Maryville fall loose leaf collection is expected to be completed by January 10, 2023. Crews will make one final pass through all neighborhoods without observing zone times for this last collection. All leaves in all zones should be at the curb at this time. Leaves should be placed in your front yard, not in a ditch or near the drainage system, as this could clog up your storm drain.
