The City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works Department will close the Greenway Trail near the PetSafe Pistol Creek Dog Park, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 8 a.m. Contractors will be working to connect the north side of the trail (dog park side) to the new bridge. The work is expected to take several days to complete, weather permitting. The dog park will still be accessible from the north (city of Alcoa side).

Today, Monday, May 6, 2024, a contractor for the City of Maryville began working on replacing the two pedestrian bridges in Bicentennial Park. This work will require trail closures in addition to those already in effect for the streambank repair project currently underway (see the map). The bridge replacement project is expected to last approximately four months.
The parking area next to McCammon Ave. is currently closed. Dog Park and trail users will need to locate alternate parking lots. The City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works Department announced the closure of the Greenway Trail from the College Street Bridge to the Church Street/Sevierville Road access point today and tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, June 14 and 15. The trail will be closed for most of the day each day. Crews are working on the bridges along the trail.
City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works announced today that contractors will replace a bridge over Pistol Creek near Jack Greene Park. This work will require the Greenway Trail between Cusick Street and Court Street to be closed from Monday, February 6, to Friday, February 10, 2023. Citizens who use this part of the trail are encouraged to plan their walk/run around the closure. Trail users can reroute on Court Circle and Ellis Avenue as shown on the map.

UPDATE: 2/9/2022 Crews will be working to remove dead trees along the Greenway Trail again today, Wednesday, February 9, 2022. A section of the trail from the Willow Bridge entrance to South Cedar Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
UPDATE: Crews will continue their work removing dead trees along the Greenway Trail today, Friday, February 4. A section of the trail from the Willow Bridge to Montvale Road Bridge will remain closed. UPDATE: The tree removal along the Greenway Trail planned for Wednesday has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 3. If weather permits, crews will close the trails mentioned below on Thursday rather than Wednesday. Engineering and Public Works will have the Greenway Trail between Montvale Road and the Tennis Courts on South Cedar St. closed all day on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 1 and 2, 2022. This closure includes the entrance to the trail at Willow Drive. Additionally, the new trail behind Southern Grace Coffee Shop leading to Jack Greene Park Pavilion will be closed as well. Crews will be working to remove several dead trees in the parks. Trail users will need to plan for an alternate route for Tuesday and Wednesday. The trails will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so. The City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works has announced a section of the Greenway trail in Jack Greene Park, will be closed all day Thursday, July 29th beginning at 7 a.m. The section of the trail that will be affected is between the restrooms (next to the Cusick Street tunnel) and just beyond the tunnel under Court Street (where the carved bear statue is located, about 200 ft. northeast of Court Street). An independent contractor will be working to prepare the area for the construction of a parking lot near to the trail.

City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works will close the greenway trail at Montvale Road on Thursday, June 17 to prepare for the bridge replacement coming soon. Trail users will be able to walk from Willow Drive to the bridge but will not be able to pass over the bridge. Trail users on the U.S. 321 side will not be able to access the trail from the bridge. Closed signs will be in place. Once installed, the bridge replacement program on the Montgomery Lane to Montvale Road section of the greenway will be complete. A section of the Greenway trail - from Pearson Springs Pavilion to the Montgomery Lane bridge - will be closed on Wednesday, April 7 for tree work. Contractor Petree Arbor will be removing approximately 30 dead or diseased trees in the area. Trail users will need to find alternative routes while the work is in progress.

The closed area is near the pavilion at Jack Green park near the Courthouse. Crews will be working on a bridge near the sidewalk at U.S.321. The trail will be rerouted around the nearby trail extension which connects the trail to Gary Hensley Drive and the intersection at Montvale Road. Detour signs will be in place to notify trail visitors of the alternate paths.
