The Maryville Tree Board has given final approval for the city to remove dead and dying trees along the Greenway Trail between the last bridge, near Pearson Springs Soccer Fields, and Montgomery Lane (see the map provided). After the removal of the dead trees, a single row of 8 – 9 ft. tall Green Giant Arborvitae trees will be planted in their place.

This project is set to begin Friday, February 14th, 2025. Crews will be working from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for several weeks until the work is complete.

It is recommended that trail users avoid the area and seek a different route during the removal phase of this project. Those who choose to use the trail during this time will be directed to an alternate path in the grass. The alternate path will not be paved or covered with gravel making it somewhat more difficult to navigate. The contractor will re-open the trail each evening after they have finished their work for the day.

During the replanting phase, every effort will be made to keep the trail open whenever the safety of the public is not an issue.

For more information, contact the Engineering and Public Works Department at 865-273-3302.
