Contractors for the city of Maryville will be pressure washing the municipal parking garage on W. Church Avenue on August 13 and 14. This will require closing the interior two levels of the garage on Thursday evening, August 12. Cars must be removed from the garage before the work begins. The top level of the parking garage will remain open.

The final phase of the Broadway Municipal Parking Garage project will begin Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Contractors will close middle and top level on Tuesday. The middle level will remain closed for three weeks while there is risk for falling debris to occur. The top level will remain closed until the project is complete - which contractors say will take eight weeks.
Before the lot can be resurfaced, crews must remove old caulk, blast the surface and replace the caulk. Blasting will smooth the surface and remove residue in order for the new sealant to adhere properly. Once the blasting is complete, a thick epoxy primer will be applied to the surface. This part of the process will take approximately three weeks. Once the epoxy primer has cured, a traffic-rated coating will be applied followed by striping and signing. This part of the process will take up to five weeks, but is highly weather dependent. The priming and sealing products require a consistent temperature of at least 50 degrees to cure properly and dry weather during the application process. “We regret that the lot will need to be closed for an extended time, but we are glad to see it nearing completion. The end result will be a structurally sound, long term asset to our downtown,” said City Manager Greg McClain. Work began on the two municipal garages June 25, 2018. The Harper Avenue garage repair and improvements project was mostly completed in September 2018. The Broadway Garage work began on July 5. According to contractor Joseph Construction, weather has impacted 71 working days. For more information, contact the city of Maryville at 273-3500. The top level of the Broadway Parking Garage will be closed beginning Tuesday, July 24. The closure was originally scheduled for July 16. Work continues to progress on the excavation of the backfill around the garage.
The top floor of the Harper Avenue Garage will open August 9. For the original post on the garage work, click here. Notice: City Contractors will be cleaning and painting the handrails at the Harper Street Garage this Saturday/Sunday, June 9 & 10. The garage will remain open during this time.
