The City's annual tree lighting event - originally scheduled for November 30 - has been postponed due to the rise in COVID cases in the past few weeks. We will be participating with a more socially distanced presence in the Christmas Parade scheduled for December 12. Stay tuned for more details. The Maryville Downtown Association is holding its Holiday Market on Saturday, November 28 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Broadway Avenue from Cates Street to Norwood will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The top level of the municipal parking garage will also be closed for this time.
Detours will be in place using Church Street and Harper Avenue. For more information about the holiday market, please contact Pete Simmons at [email protected]. Contractors working on the Cusick Street repair project between McCammon Avenue and Harper Avenue will open the road on Wednesday, November 25 through Sunday, November 29 in preparation for Thanksgiving holiday traffic needs.
Sidewalks and ramps will remain closed to pedestrians. The road will be closed again on November 30 and is expected to be completed on December 2, weather depending. In 2016 the President signed a proclamation calling on the people of the United States to observe two minutes of silence on Veterans Day in honor of the service and sacrifice of veterans throughout the history of our Nation. The silence will occur simultaneously across the nation today, Veterans Day — at 2:11 p.m. EST. Please take a moment to honor our Veterans and their sacrifices.
The city of Maryville Water and Sewer department will have High St. closed from S. College St. to Crawford St. for the morning to repair a water main break. For more information, contact us at 865-273-3304.
City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works will close a section of Cusick Street between McCammon Avenue and Harper Avenue. The closure will begin November 4 and is expected to remain closed until November 25. The closure is necessary to replace failing concrete pavements and sidewalks.
A marked detour route will be in place during the closure and will direct traffic using College Street and McCammon Avenue. APAC Harrison is the contractor for the project. For more information, please call the department of Engineering and Public Works (865) 273-3500. |
