​The City of Maryville Engineering Department announced today that a renovation project at Jack Greene Park has begun. Improvements to the park include painting the stage area of the amphitheater and upgrades to the pavilion and the restrooms.
 
As of Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the restrooms are closed until further notice. During construction, porta-potties are available. The pavilion and stage will also have limited availability through the end of July.
 
The park will remain open to the public. The work is expected to be complete by July 31, 2023.

UPDATE: 5/6/2022

On Monday, May 9, contractors will move to the next phase of work along Cusick Street. 
 
Traffic will shift to perform demolition work on the sidewalk near Bill Cox Furniture. 
Cusick Street will remain open to traffic in both directions however for a few hours on Monday morning, Cusick will be closed to stage equipment. Motorists in the downtown area should expect delays and consider another route.

The Harper Avenue closure, scheduled to begin Monday morning at 8, has been delayed until 1 p.m. to help ease congestion.

Monday May 9 
• 8 a.m. - Cusick Street will be closed to all traffic until approximately 11 a.m.
• 1 p.m. - Harper Ave. will be closed to thru traffic until 3 p.m.

Tuesday May 9 - Friday May 13
• Harper Ave. will be closed to thru traffic from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

​The City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works Department reports that the final stages of improvements to several downtown streets, ramps, and sidewalks are underway. 
 
The following is a comprehensive list of the work in progress in the downtown area. This phase of the project is estimated to be complete by May 18, 2022.

• New, accessible sidewalks replaced along Cusick Street (Contractors)
• Remove and reconstruct deteriorated catch basins in several intersections (City EPW Employees)
• New, accessible curb ramps constructed at pedestrian walkways at intersections. (City EPW Employees)
• Repair or replace Deteriorated brick crosswalks (City EPW Employees)
• Related utility adjustments (City EPW Employees)

 
After this work is done, several streets will be resurfaced - including Harper Avenue from Cates Street to Everett Avenue. Other streets in the downtown area slated to be resurfaced are 

• Cusick Street
• McCammon Avenue
• N. Court Street
• Patton Alley
• New Street
• Tennessee Street
• East Street
• Parham Street 
• Church Street Connector. 

In support of the City’s long-term plan to link the Greenway Trail system with schools and residential areas, construction plans for downtown include bike lanes along Harper between Parham Avenue and Everett. These improvements in the downtown area will be complete by the end of June 2022.

​City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works reports that traffic on Cusick Street is backed up and slow moving at this time. Cusick has been reduced to one lane in both directions while contractors work to remove large amounts of materials from demolition of the sidewalk. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route. If avoiding the area is not possible, drivers should expect delays between Church Street and McCammon Avenue. Lanes will remain closed for the rest of the day today. We expect lanes to re-open for the weekend and be in effect again on Monday. We will relay information as it becomes available to us.     

​City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works will have East Street closed from E. Harper Avenue to E. Broadway from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 while crews work on improvements to accessibility of street parking. 

​City of Maryville Public Works will have Broady Lane closed from Montvale Road to Broadmoor Drive to remove a fallen tree.
 
This section of Broady will be closed to through traffic on Wednesday, April 6 from approximately 8:30 a.m. – noon.

​The City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works department will be working on the Pistol Creek Wetlands Center Boardwalk in the coming weeks. Crews will be replacing the aging wood on the boardwalk with TREX composite decking. The Boardwalk will be closed daily, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. until the project is complete. Edmond Green, Grounds Maintenance Superintendent, estimates the project will take approximately six weeks.   

​City of Maryville Engineering and Public Works department has begun the process of installing sidewalks along Crest Road near Coulter Grove Intermediate School. The purpose of the project is to provide safety for children who walk to school, connect neighborhoods, enhance aesthetics, fix minor drainage problems along Crest Road and Charles Coulter Road, and preserve the integrity of the road.
 
The construction phase of the project is set to begin in November 2020, and end in April of 2021.
