Soil and vegetative bioengineering techniques will be used to stabilize existing streambanks including streambank grading, installation of coir fiber matting and stone at the toe of the bank, and native vegetation planting including trees and bare root seedlings. This project also involves shifting a small section of greenway trail away from the streambank.
The work will fortify the land surrounding the creeks and help keep sediment out of the creeks, improving the aquatic environment. This will provide stability to the bank and ensure the greenway in this section is open to enjoy for many years to come.
D.R. Phillips Contracting will perform the work under the supervision of Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., the designer, and engineer for this project.
This work will require the temporary closure of the parking area located at 320 McCammon Avenue and a section of the greenway trail surrounding the repair area. Trail users will need to utilize alternative parking locations and avoid the construction area. During construction the greenway access from McCammon Avenue across from McGhee Street will remain open except for short intervals to accommodate loading/unloading of equipment and materials for the project.
