Previously, residential customers were billed a $55 one-time fee at the time of inspection.
Beginning January 1, the residential inspection fee will be $58 and will be billed over 12 months at $4.83 per month.
Commercial customers fees will also be split over 12 months. The monthly rates for commercial customers is dependent on the size of the device.
5/8 inch - 1 inch devices will be $9
1 1/4 inch - 2 inch devices will be $12.08
2 1/2 inch - 4 inch devices will be $18.16
4 1/2 inch - 6 inch devices will be $30.16
Over 6 inches will be $42.25
Residential customers who choose to disconnect their irrigation water service will still be charged the monthly fee due to the state-required annual inspection. If residential customers cut and cap the supply line going to the backflow prevention device, they can contact the water and sewer department to have the line inspected and remove the device from the account. This does not apply to commercial customers who are required to maintain backflow prevention devices.
Maryville Municipal Code requires residential irrigation devices to be installed with water service up to the number two shutoff valve of the backflow device on or before May 1 each year and remain in service until September 30 to allow for required annual inspections and tests. Devices that are not installed or in service at the time of inspection will require a return trip and re-inspection fee.
The backflow prevention program is one of the many ways we keep the city's water supply safe for all of our customers and we appreciate our backflow customers for their help in this effort. Please contact us at (865) 273-3304 with any questions or concerns.
