Blount County residents and businesses who were affected by the recent flooding (February 23 weekend) are asked to call the Blount Emergency Management Agency Damage Assessment Team to report damages.
The team is assessing damage to homes and businesses affected by floodwaters during the February 23rd, 2019, weekend rain event. The Damage Assessment Team is composed of volunteers from the community who have completed the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency damage assessment courses. These individuals are credentialed with proper identification and wear yellow Blount County Emergency Management Agency vests. The Blount County Emergency Management Agency will gather information on damaged homes and businesses to submit to Tennessee Emergency Management Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency. Even if a homeowner does not intend to request federal assistance, Blount County Emergency Management Agency is asking each homeowner who sustained damage to their homes during this rain event to call (865) 273-5835 and leave their name, contact information and address.
According to Mayor Mitchell, “The damage assessment we are able to report in Blount County will affect all of us in what money will be available to citizens and public entities from FEMA and the Small Business Administration.”
Please note, homeowners and business owners still need to call their respective insurance company and report any damage as well.
To report flood damages to homes or businesses, please call Blount County Emergency Management Agency (865) 273-5835.
