Update: Road will be open to College Street (previously published to be closed at Court Street)
Ellis Avenue has been closed due to a sinkhole that developed Tuesday evening.
At this time, eastbound traffic on Ellis will need to detour at College Street. Westbound traffic from Washington Street will need to find an alternate route. Local traffic (business parking lots) will still remain accessible as long as the road is safe to pass. Crews will be monitoring the situation and changes to the traffic plan may be necessary.
Work to find the issue, make repairs, and reopen the road may take several days. We will continue to post updates as they are available.
