Aside from the drainage benefit, sidewalks have been widened by 1.5 feet making the new width 5.5 feet. This width allows for two people to walk side-by-side comfortably – improving walkability in the area.
Crew Supervisor, Tim Green said he expects the department’s portion of the project between Karrow Street and Ray Avenue to be completed by the end of June. Contractors will finish the section between Ray Avenue and Mountain View Avenue due to the various utilities in the area. Once the entire section is complete, the road will be resurfaced.
Green said, “We have already seen the benefits of this project in terms of drainage and are excited to complete it. We think the people using these sidewalks as well as the residents in the area will be very happy with the end result.”
