Update: 12:44 p.m. TVA has lifted the rolling blackouts. All power should be restored in the next few minutes.
TVA has initiated rolling blackouts in order to protect the power transmission system from failure due to the extreme demand. We are currently at 5% load reduction requirement which includes 4 cycles listed below. The schedule runs through the entire system - our plan starts with circuits and rolls through before starting again. The first quadrant in the plan includes downtown, Tuckaleechee, on into Rockford. This is the first time in the City's history that we have been required to initiate a rolling blackout.
Update: The blackouts will occur at the top of every hour and half hour according to cycle schedules.
