As work continues on the repair of the US 411 sinkhole, according to the TDOT project manager, the road will remain down to one lane in both directions for the remainder of the week.
Delays in the area are significant. Expect at least 20 minutes additional time to travel through the area. Be advised - Old Niles Ferry is also receiving a large amount of traffic.
There is currently only one lane open near the work site in each direction.
The traffic control plan is currently allowing for two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane on US 411 South. The Foothills Mall Drive/ Montgomery Lane intersection is operating normally in both directions. All directions are passable, but traffic is congested in the area and motorists are still advised to avoid the area if possible. Work to repair the pipe and the sinkhole is expected to continue possibly through Friday.
A storm sewer pipe has failed under US 411 South near the Foothills Mall Drive intersection. The failure has created a sink hole on the eastbound side of the road near the Pure Magic Car Wash / Condry Lane. Traffic will be diverted in the area and lanes will be reduced to one eastbound and one westbound. Additional modifications at the intersection will be required and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. More information will follow as it is available.
