Updated July 11, 2018
Contractors have rescheduled the repaving work for Washington St., High St. and Sevierville Rd. for Thursday, July 12. They hope to be able to do all repaving work in the area at one time minimizing the road closing time. This work will require a brief closure of all four lanes of Washington St. as well as High and a small section of Sevierville Road. More information will be posted as it is available.

Updated July 9, 2018 1 p.m. / 4:15 p.m.
Washington Street and High Street are now open. Washington and High will be closed for part of the day on Wednesday to complete the repair/ repaving of the surface. Otherwise, no additional closures will be required.

On the Sevierville Road side of Washington Street, High Street (which makes a Y with Sevierville Road will remain closed for the rest of the week to finish the line.

Updated July 9, 2018
Due to some complications with the sewer line work on Sunday, July 8, Washington Street will remain closed for *part* the day. We apologize for the inconvenience. The traffic plan has been changed - and local traffic is not passable at this time on Washington Street. Please follow Police directions and detours and allow extra time to get to your location. Crews are working to complete the work as soon as possible and restore normal traffic. We will post more information as it is available.

Updated July 3, 2018

Beginning July 7 at 6 p.m., Maryville Water and Sewer’s ongoing sewer line replacement project will require a section of Washington Street to be closed. Contractors will be working to replace a sewer line with manholes located in the center of Washington Street and High Street. A state-route detour is required. In order to minimize the impact on daily traffic, Portland Utilities Construction Co., LLC is planning the work from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. from Saturday, July 7 to Saturday, July 14.

The planned detour will be right on Broadway Avenue (S.R. 33) to Lamar Alexander Parkway (U.S. 321, S.R. 73)  toward the mountains and the reverse to Alcoa. High Street will be closed from Crawford Street to Sevierville Road. Routes within the detoured section will be indicated by detour signs. Local traffic will be able to access businesses on either side of High Street but will not be able to cross the intersection of Washington and High Street.

To the extent possible, depending on any complications with underground utilities, tree roots, weather, etc., contractors plan to plate and reopen the road each day from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. However, there will be some temporary daytime closures to repave the road.

For more information, contact Maryville Water & Sewer at 273-3304 or Administration at 273-3406.
